Blackhawk Farms 2010 PDEs

This year RRC members attended both of the two PDEs put on by the Milwaukee Area Porsche Club of America (PCA) at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit, IL. On June 4th Damian and Rick went to Blackhawk and threw down some hot laps, and then returned on July 12th for another DE. Unfortunately, Rick sprained one of his fingers and did not drive in July, but instead took videos of the cars on the track.

Both events this year were threatened by weather, which is fast becoming our SOP. The first event had rain during the first session for everyone, and then cleared up and dried out thereafter. The July event had rain right around the corner... but never quite on the track.

In June Damian was trying out his new-to-him 2005 BMW M3 with new track wheels and tires, while Rick was trying to keep up with Damian's M3! The day ended with a great all-cars session where Damian, Rick, Jeff (an instructor) and Paul (another instructor) ran nose-to-tail for most of the session. Jeff is driving his red e36 M3, and Paul is driving Damian's previous 2004 BMW 330Ci. How's that for a close-knit track family? In July Damian ran around the track beating up on everyone else in the Intermediate group, while Rick caught some video from the side.

Blackhawk Farms is in South Beloit, IL which is just over the Wisconsin-Illinois border. It is farther away than Road America, but much closer than Gingerman. Given it's relative proximity and oh-so-enjoyable track flow, we recommend that everyone who has any chance to make the trip down and enjoy it.
